Job Description
Breads Bakery is a New York bakery dedicated to producing handmade breads and pastries using traditional baking techniques, and providing our guests with an unforgettable experience. We're seeking an organized, proactive individual to join our Purchasing & Receiving team and play an integral role in keeping our bakery, teams, and production running smoothly.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Receive, store and maintain daily deliveries and memorialize invoices according to organization standards- alerting any delivery and/or quality concerns to the Lead Receiver and/or Purchasing Manager in a timely fashion and troubleshooting any unexpected shorted or incorrect deliveries. Establish and maintain strong relationships with current and future vendors, escalating concerns clearly and professionally as they arise. Coordinate with relevant departments to confirm delivery accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Daily oversight and upkeep of receiving area and storage spaces in accordance with DOH standards.
- Operate and monitor the service elevator, ensuring safe and efficient use by vendors and staff. Assist vendors and delivery personnel in loading and unloading goods onto the service elevator. Enforce building policies regarding elevator usage and access to restricted areas.
- Report any elevator malfunctions or safety concerns to the maintenance team promptly; assist in alternative delivery methods as needed in the event the elevator is out of service.
- Ensure the safety of all receiving and storage activities by adhering to safety protocols. Enforce safe practices for vendors and staff and address any safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain regular communication with vendors, building management and internal staff to ensure deliveries run smoothly, inventory is received accurately, and vendor access is coordinated—adapting to daily operational needs and adjusting priorities as necessary.
- Conduct weekly and monthly inventory through the appropriate platforms, assisting and adapting to any product and/or system transitions as well as any updates in SOPs.
- Support warehouse storage operations including deliveries, inventory management, maintenance, and other related tasks as needed.
- Follow tasks as instructed by the direct manager and supervisor, ensuring responsibilities are met and, when possible, exceeded. Maintain a 'Yes' mindset and troubleshoot through any obstacles that may arise; govern tasks and communication with professionalism and sincerity.
- Recognize the importance of providing extraordinary hospitality and exemplifies this in interactions with vendors, colleagues and guests alike.
- Assist at other Breads Bakery locations as needed; ability to adjust and adapt gracefully to unexpected changes.
Skills & Requirements:
- Professional experience in related role and/or setting, preferred but not required
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Remarkable communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving aptitude, and ability to multitask
- Capacity to excel on a team or work independently
- Ability to work early mornings, holidays and weekends
- Must be 18 years of age or older & authorized to work in the US
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards / requirements including meeting and qualitative or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual and regular attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards / requirements
- Compliance with all personnel policies and practices
Compensation & Benefits:
- $21-$24/hour
