Light-Gauge Steel Truss Designer | Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) Location: REMOTE
Overview: Our client is seeking a skilled Light-Gauge Steel Truss Designer with experience in Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) to join their growing team. This designer will play a critical role in producing accurate, code-compliant truss and framing designs for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and proficient with design software used for light-gauge steel systems.
Key Responsibilities: - Design and detail CFS trusses and framing systems for a variety of building types - Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop efficient design solutions - Use design software (e.g., FRAMECAD, MWF, Vertex BD, Revit, AutoCAD ) to generate accurate layouts and shop drawings - Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure design intent and project requirements are met - Optimize material usage while ensuring structural integrity and code compliance - Revise designs based on customer feedback, engineering input, or field issues - Coordinate with production and installation teams to resolve constructability issues
Qualifications: - 2+ years of experience in CFS truss or framing design (light-gauge steel required) - Proficiency with relevant design and drafting tools ALPINE software preferred (e.g., FRAMECAD, MWF, Revit, AutoCAD ) - Strong knowledge of IBC , ASTM , and other relevant building codes and standards - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents - Strong communication and problem-solving skills - Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred: - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or Construction Technology - Experience working with multifamily or commercial projects - Familiarity with structural engineering principles as they apply to CFS
